Title: Powered Mixer without cabs?
Post by: stratavox on April 01, 2016, 09:02:37 am
First, if this is in the wrong category, apologies. I have a Yamaha powered mixer, and would LIKE to use it as JUST a mixer. If I run from the unbalanced outs to powered cabs (both for mains and monitors), can I NOT use the main speaker outputs? Essentially running no load on the amp? The manual doesn't address this (understandably...). Thanks folks...

I bet it is 20 pounds of case and mixer, 20 pounds of power amplifier.

Typically the mix-part steals power from the power-amp part, so no simple amputation.

But I have done it, when I liked the mixer but had different needs for speaker power.
