Title: Build suggestions for Hammond 279X
Post by: ncusack on April 13, 2016, 08:21:55 am
I just picked up a few Hammond 279X power transformers from a government auction. They are 115V Primary 850V Center taped @ 172mA, 5V@3A and 6.3@5A. I'm curious what you guys would suggest building with one of these.

That will make 600V unloaded B+ so you will need to use tubes that are happy with greater than 500V. Use properly rated filter caps too.

I don't have any 100W+ amps that I want to make.   :w2:

From reading some of his other posts,

Ritchie might suggest a pair of KT88's as something those PTs would be good for.   :dontknow:   :l2:
