I need to get some exercise and loose weight!
We have my step sons bike (he's 21, got a V8 Camaro, bike? :laugh: ) but I need to buy a good bike helmet.
A friend wears a skate boarders helmet says there better? Thing is hard as a rock inside and out. Shouldn't there be some shock absorption material inside the helmet between the helmets outside shell and my head?
What do I need? Is something from Wally world good enough?

I've had the basic biking helmet and I think they're mandated by law to have the required shock absorption to handle a fall off a bike at bicycling typical speeds. Therefore, yes, any helmet sold as such should be fine. On the other hand, nicer ones will fit more comfortably, etc. Just really depends on what you want, if you're not sure how much you'll ride, I'd say go for cheapest possible, then upgrade later if you really get into it.

my process for rock-climbing helmets were;
read the reviews, talk with the *locals* for their input, put on a few and smack yourself in the head :icon_biggrin:
I've only bought 2 in 20years, the 1st one took a hard hit and cracked, but aside from sore muscles and abrasions, I walked away!

Yup, most of them carry Bell bicycle accessories.
Same Bell that makes great motorcycle helmets.
Check his seat for comfort, cause you'll be tempted to buy one of those cushy seats while your there too, and it might not be a bad idea.

very light weight, very comfy and adjust really easily to my odd sized head
