Title: Carolina BluezMeister
Post by: tubenit on June 26, 2016, 05:44:36 pm
Paralleled V1 (5751) and a 5879 OD (2nd gain stage of OD) & active FX.   (I converted one of my amps into this experiment)

Lots of sustain.  Not much floor noise.  Very transparent tone with sort of a vowel accent.  I have played it enough now to be past the initial honeymoon stage and still like the tone of the amp very much.  It has a very full warm tone to it.

It's very touch sensitive with the picking.  It goes from a clean smooth tone to having a tiny bit of grit/distortion by just changing the picking. The sustain with the light picking is equal to or better then the more aggressive picking to my ears. I may try adding another smoothing cap somewhere?

Still a work in progress, but I thought I'd show where it is at this stage.   The SCH schematic has the B+ rail on it on the 2nd page of the file.

Another idea ..................

Sort of a 3 channel D-style inspired.

DRAFT design.  I have not built this (yet).

I was curious if relays are necessary for switching between od/clean, or is a simple footswitch feasible.

You would need a relay switch to have it be footswitchable while playing.

I find all this VERY hard to believe.  I reside in the "Sho-Me" state so unless I hear a clip? :dontknow:
