I am looking for the EASIEST build project of a modern high gain tube amp. Something in the style of Peavey 6550, Mesas or Soldanos. Most DIY projects are for Classic Fender and Marshall amps, just looking for something different but not too complex. Any ideas?

Slo 100 would be most obtainable as far as that kind of high gain. There are layouts for that one. I have also come across jcm800 with additional gain stages. Similar to slo100 without the fxloop

Excellent. What i am thinking here is something with a very basic tonestack but plenty of gain.

Depending on your wattage considerations, consider looking at what's available over at www.ax84.com (http://www.ax84.com) . That's not my flavor of amp, but their High Octane or SEL designs are well established, fairly simple (although layout's an issue, just like any higher gain design), and in between this forum and ax84's, I don't think you could possibly come up with a question that wouldn't be answered.

Tone stack isn't an issue. With most of what I mentioned you're looking at a cathode follower TMB stack. But if by "basic" you mean like single control or less knobs, you could incorporate a single tone control or even a treble/bass only like on ac30. Possibilities are endless.
