70's Vibrolux 210 Alnico find! It's been a few years since my 5D6A Bassman and 1959 Deluxe 5E3 finds.
The guts are untouched to my surprise. Also finding the blue coupling and tone caps was a surprise. 2 Alnico 10" speakers.
I Black faced the PI 1964-67 AA964 circuit. New F&T 16uf 450VDC PS capacitors with 1968-69 dated cap sleeves.
All versions are basically the same with a few changes such as the bias and power supply resistor nodes. I am using a NOS 1958 CBS Black plate 5U4GB and have all the voltages near dead on as per the AA964 schematic. Original grille cloth including all original Fender dated preamp tubes & foot switch.
Power tubes are 6L6GC GT and have to go. I would like to find some 82-85 JAN 6L6GWB short bottle power tubes.
Sounds like a tasty prime rib & corn beef and cabbage. Where food comes into the equation i have no idea. Must be hungry.
All Allen Bradley CC's. I have never owned one of these but i can tell you i sure have missed out on some incredible sweet tones.
Steve my new name is Vibroplex!

I'd drop some EL34s and a plexi board in that in a heartbeat. Get some of those gold capped brown knobs. Sweet!

Great find.

Thanks Bill. Nice patina on the hardware. I ordered some vintage braided reverb cables. They look so much better than those plastic PVC cables.

Nice cap job!

Nice score, it is really in good shape
If you recap, don't waste those nice paper pipes, recover it and cover with it the new capacitors

Take another look. He's already done that.

As always, you are right Steve

It's kinda funny but, i got those power supply cap sleeves from a 1968-1969 Vibrolux i would say about a year ago. They have been in a ziplock baggie just waiting for a home. This amp sounds amazing! Great Alnico speakers. Can't wait for the braided reverb cables to arrive.

I have a pretty big supply of 60's & 70's capacitor sleeves just in case an amp i buy has been tampered with already and they are MIA.

I know some guy who are passionate for old radio (where you can find ecaps also in rectangoular boxes) that has some jpg files
and print it on cardboard to clone the original, I've seen some of this job and must say they are great

That does sound pretty cool. At least on my end there are still plenty of Fender amps out there that have never been recapped yet. Those are the ones i like to work on. It's like a big surprise when you remove the dog house and see the original PS caps.
