Hi Guys and Girls,
I need some assistance for the design of a new 100 watt tube guitar amp. The idea is to combine the functions and sound of two amps into one. The clean channel needs to replicate the sound of a Fender 1960's era Baseman and the drive channel needs to replicate the sound of a modern EVH 5150. There is some possibility for the need of the integration of a vintage Lexicon Alex effects unit. I have schematics of the Bassman and EVH 5150.
This is a bit complex to describe here. If you know someone who would like to take on this project please PM me with your phone number or I can give you mine. Please respond here if you intend to PM me.
I think this will be a fun project and getting payed to do it only makes it better!!
Thanks,
Billy

Hi Franko,
Here is a link to the EVH schematic I have been looking at. http://support.evhgear.com/schematics/EVH_5150III_AmpHead_Schematics.pdf (http://support.evhgear.com/schematics/EVH_5150III_AmpHead_Schematics.pdf)
He really never said what model Bassman he had in mind. Perhaps an AB165 or a Bassman 100. Schematics for those amps are on schematic heaven. http://schematicheaven.net/fenderamps/bassman_ab165_schem.pdf (http://schematicheaven.net/fenderamps/bassman_ab165_schem.pdf)
The guy who wants me to build him a new amp is sending me one of the EVH amps he is using. It should be here in a few days. I have only had a short conversation with him at this point.
I think the channels are referred to by color on the EVH. I have never played one of these amps so I don't know. As soon as I get the amp I will play it to get a feel for what it sounds like. As I understand, the EVH is a three channel amp and around 100 watt.
He said he wants the sound of the "blue channel" on the EVH and the sound of the clean channel on the bassman. That is, I guess the basic design idea. I assume this sort of amp can be built on a turret board. I assume the EVH is being built by Fender on a PCB. Due to the fact we will need some sort of channel switching using relays and transistors, there may be a need also for a small PCB. None of the turret board amps I have built have any channel switching or transistors in them.
Actually a couple of people have ask me to do something like this with 50 watt Marshall amps for the same reason. Great rock sounds but lacking in clean sounds and little head room. This seems to be a common complaint about some high gain amps in general.
It is 2AM here so I need to sign off.
Later guys,
Billy

Ciao Billy
ok, the schematic is not what I thought (a Peavey EVH5150)
If you need Fender schematics Doug has a large collection here on the forum
