Title: First Build: Hammond AO35
Post by: Hellawatt on October 31, 2016, 06:33:20 am
I bet this wiring looks pretty sloppy to you guys, but this is my first build and I am proud to say that it works and sounds good! All I had to do was switch the OT wires and it worked on the second try! I took it to band practice and cranked it through half of a Marshall cab and it sounded great.

I bought the AO35 chassis on Craigslist, then gutted it and rebuild it using parts I bought from Doug. I copied the Phoenix Carmen Ghia schematic and layout pretty closely. I had to put the PT on standoffs to fit my little cap board. The only problem is the tone pot is backwards. I made aluminum faceplates but they aren't anodized so I don't know how well they will hold up over time.

Now I need to make a box for it. I have some cherry that I may try and do some dovetails on.

Anyways I was expecting to have to come here for help troubleshooting, but Im pleasantly surprised this thing worked!

Good job! That's a popular project I always wanted to do but other stuff kept getting in the way.

Good, good, and good!

There's no arguing with "It works & I like it"!

The tone control probably isn't backwards.  See this video, starting about halfway through:
