The price is okay for newbie amp tinkering, but I think his power spec is possibly off a bit

He's simply quoting the input power rating shown on the schematic. IMO that's not a good candidate for a guitar amp.

It is a pair of 50C5.

Good for a large Watt all day long. Each!

Not a good guitar amp-- no power transformer. Wudda come out of a radio/phono with internal antenna and insulated cartridge leads.
