Title: Has anyone built a Friedman Dirty Shirley?
Post by: Mark on November 27, 2016, 03:30:55 am
Hi

Just curious if anyone has had a go at building this amp?

A friend has one and is very pleased, he also confirmed the circuit diagram in the attachment.

Regards

Mark

I built the preamp (or at least something very similar to the schem you attached - I believe the only difference is that I have a 150k plate resistor instead of a 220k at the first gain stage) in a cathode biased dual 5881 power amp, GZ34 rectified. I have hi and lo inputs in that amp. You can get clean tones through the lo input but they are a bit thin. Crunch and lead tones is where it's at. The amp has a quite fast attack and is fun to play.
