Title: microphonics?
Post by: shooter on December 01, 2016, 02:19:14 pm
Can external conditions, bias, gain, impedance etc, cause a tube to "act" microphonic?
I have a condition where any tube in the previous gain stage works fine, but when they are moved to the next stage, they are all  microphonic.

thanks

if the socket itself is doing something bad, I think so.  I.e. sometimes the sockets can start conducting a bit and you'll get really whacky behavior.  (i.e. the problem doesn't follow the tube, it stays with a socket).  This is invalid if the sockets are ceramic, though.  Sluckey taught me all this :P
