Post by: Tweeds on January 08, 2017, 10:01:09 am
Is it possible to have  epoxy board made(with turrets installed) shorter in width than the 3.125"

Thanks

I've made quite a few that were narrower than 3-1/8".

Thanks much, I guess I should have asked if Hoffman can do that?,

or all they all the same width...but maybe you were answering that for already.

You need to ask Doug about that. He may rip a narrow board for you. Send him a pm.

Sorry, I only have 3.125 inch tall board material

I have my supplier rip big sheets for me

I don't rip board material here
It's a horrible experience to do on a table saw and I stopped doing it many years ago

Thanks, I can see if you only need to take off a bit how that could be problems...makes sense to keep it one size indeed.

No biggie.

I've got a sheet of G10 board here in black and I could rip you a piece.
I'd prefer to not get involved in the turrets, but anything 'could' be done for the right price. :icon_biggrin:

I use a wet tile saw with a diamond blade and it does the trick (the wetness keeps the dust down).
Just can't promise it will be immaculate looking as there usually winds up being a scratch or 5.

I cut odd bits with a hacksaw out in the driveway.

It happened that 3.?" was good one way, so I just cut a foot of Hoffman's stuff into four 2.6" lengths to cover my hole, both sides, with spares. Did not take long.

Lengths over say 8" will be tough with the usual hacksaw. Look close: some allow you to set the blade 90 degrees to the frame so you can saw narrow strips forever.

Good bench and clamps are important.

If the material is 3mm thick is a bit more difficult but if the board is 2mm thick it will be easy to cut with a cutter

if you do it, do it working on each side of the board, not necessary to cut all the thikness

only deeply scratch and bend with your hands to divide (a rouler can be of some help doing that)
