Title: JCM 800 sound like a Laney?
Post by: fossilshark on January 12, 2017, 10:38:35 am
I havnt ordered the parts for my 800 build yet and I was wondering if I could substitute the passive component values for the ones used in a Laney supergroup to get a better (in my opinion) sound. I play Black Sabbath and like any hardcore fan im in love with the sound of Tony Iommis rig. So basically id be building a 50 watt 1 channel version of a laney supergroup using the same layout as a JCM 800. Any thoughts? I already have the chassis made, transformers mounted, and the layout made for the 800.

At this point you can build whatever you want. If the Laney layout is the same as the Marshall layout, it will be a pretty easy job. If not, it could be quite a challenge if the differences are significant.

An 800 & a decent Fuzz will get you there no problem!
