Hello:
Murray, Holland, MI, electrical engineering dropout, have worked in various capacities as technician or bastard engineer since 1976 (my term; non-degreed), currently co-own picture frame shop & art gallery with my wife for about the last 20 years.
Music theorist (spend alot more time studying guitar neck than playing one). Used to play saxophones...still traumatized by guitar neck. Gradually beginning to understand it.
I start projects but rarely finish them. I joke that a piece of my soul (if I still have it; might have traded it for a box of capacitors) dies any time I finish a project.
I don't thrown anything away before taking it apart first - might be something good for something in there.
I collect transformers, capacitors and decrepit cameras or body parts of cameras. Actually, I don't anymore...I probably have several lifetimes worth of all of the above...usually stuff other people didn't want.
I only have one tube guitar amp, in the process of refurbishing...a step every few-several years. Gibson BR-9 (parallel-single-ended 6V6 version with 8" field coil speaker; I don't remember the other characteristics distinguishing it from the other versions at the moment. I think it's closer to the GA-8, a 'transitional' BR-9).
A couple cheap solid state amps I will probably pull the electronics out of, leaving the speaker for small tube amp projects...some day.
Time to move over to another part of the forum to start asking questions...
