This is a STRETCH'y strap.
Got one of these recently and really am enjoying it.
My favorite aspect is that the strap gives just enough when I'm laying into left hand vibrato.
It also seems to balance out the weight of the guitar and makes it feel more comfortable than a standard strap.
Didn't want to spend $20+ on a strap, but I think it is well worth the price and holding up well.
Just figured I'd share.

Only problem is, there are some real men who would say "real men don't wear those".
But I'm pretty sure these are the same real men who completely idolize other real men,

I am partial to the Planet Waves straps with the slidable pad on the shoulder section. Slap some dunlop strap-locks on there, and cinch it up tight (I like to play my guitars up high on my body) and never look back! My heaviest guitar is a Japanese Ibanez RG7620 7 string, and the pad really helps! I'm always impressed by guys that sling it just over one shoulder like a shoulder bag haha

For a guitar strap the wider the better to distribute the weight. With a wide strap you don't even need the pad, besides they can be hot on your shoulder in the simmer time when the bands cookin.
You can see pics of people like SRV and Bonnie Rait with pretty wide straps.
In the 50's the style was very skinny/narrow straps just like the neck ties were back then. No thanks! :BangHead:

All my straps today are hand tooled leather and yes they are padded well. I like the planet wave sliders as well, but I do not use them anymore. I did like how they have the clip to open them so you do not have to pop it over the thing of magig. Each are different according the the Guitar and weight. I have tried the stretch ones and I could see getting used to one. Very comfy.
When I play live, I cannot even recall thinking about it as I get so jazzed up.
My favorite is a middle 70's special. It is about 5 inches wide, 3 leather pieces tied with string leather and have fringe hanging off everywhere and the fringe is long except around the neck for obvious reasons.
Looks just like the one I saw Gary Rossington using on the Street Survivors tour. What a great band they were.

I have a basic black leather strap. It's about three and quarter inches wide... pretty heavy weight leather. I saw it back in 1980 hanging on the pegboard behind the counter at one of those U Pull It auto parts junkyards and asked it if was for sale. The guy said "Five bucks and it's yours." I snatched it up and it has been my favorite strap ever since. After almost forty years the rear fuzzy suede-ish side has been rubbed as smooth as the smooth side. I have been looking for another just like it ever since to no avail. They are either not wide enough or not heavy enough or two pieces sewn together (hate those) or some stupid leather tooling on it (yee haw). I have some rudimentary leather working tools. I tried to make a copy once but the leather was too elastic and stretched under the weight of a Les Paul. When I get around to it I am going to take it down to the local Tandy Leather store and source a new piece of leather stock and make a few more. I want another just like it and need a third to set at a different length for my Charvel and my Strat.

I've got the 4" multi colored thread hippy strap from the 70's and the little 3/4"skinny one from the 60's. I keep that with my coiled cords!
Speaking of Tandy Leather, I'm a gold member because of all the crap I buy from them. I get their guitar strap "kits" for $23, leave them natural and they look great. Plenty heavy duty and they work with buttons or strap locks - nice and secure. Plus I'm tall and wear the guitar low and these are long enough.

:l2: Haha! Glad you got to see that. BTW, we just got a new family addition two days ago and had him shipped from your area out to the west coast in SoCal...very much worth every penny!
