Title: Greetings from Southern Louisiana
Post by: creekrat on February 21, 2017, 10:03:39 am
Well let's see.  I am married with 2 boys, 15&12, and currently still have a job offshore in the oilfield in the Gulf of Mexico.  I have always had a love for music as well as for tinkering with things.  I have mixed and mastered in a studio and run front of house for anything from a church to concerts and bands in bars.  Just like the rest of you, I have an affinity for the amazing tube tones.  A while back I fell in love with a Matchless Lightning and have been reading off and on about tube amp construction for a few years.  Problem is that i am a very visual learner so when I read it I am pretty much lost.  Now if I have someone showing me, that's a different story.  Well my 15 year old and I have gotten the bug and want to try our hand at building a few amps and I figured this would be a good place to join.

Thanks in advance for any help or hand holding...lol

Welcome to the forum, there are tons of great youtube videos out there about amp building.  I'd recommending looking up uncle doug's video's he goes over a lot of basics in videos in ways that visual people probably would really like.  I also have some in my 'Frenchie Films' youtube channel, so you can see how I'm building mine.  I also really like forum member Mike Scaggs (mscaggs) videos, in p2pamps channel on youtube.  Lots of other great channels that have good building content etc.  but those come to mind.
