I wanted to build a 5f2 out of some spare stuff I had laying around from an old record player. I was able to salvage the OT, PT and chassis, which was sweet because those are the most expensive parts. Fortunately I had some 1m audio pots sitting around and some extra caps and resistors.
I also wanted to build a head cabinet and speaker cabinet this time. In addition to being an electrician, I do a lot of small carpentry type stuff (picture frames small tables etc...) and I have all the tools you could need, so why not?
I assembled the whole thing and couldn't get the tubes to conduct. Turns out I had mis labeled one of the heaters as the center tap and had it hooked up wrong. SAD!
Then I realized I had forgotten the two 100r resistors on the heaters, so that was giving me guff.
I believe those were the only two roadblocks I ran into putting this little dude together.
I have it up and running now (after disassembling the whole PT because the insulation was almost gone) and it sounds great.
I hand built the speaker and head cabinets out of solid 3/4" pine, with a few pieces of leftover cherry from a job site. The speaker and rear baffle is 1/2 birch plywood and the speaker is a 10" celestion 30w.
All the hardware was a pain in the ass to find as I kind of had to design as I built it.
The speaker "grill cloth" is just some burlap with gold fiber in it from hobby lobby.
I have attempted dovetails and box joints before and have found that people make that look really really easy. I have a router and box joint bits but I cant ever get them to look right. On this guy I used my jig saw and only made one large box joint per side, making it a little easier and you still get that awesome looking side grain on the corners.
The amp handles look awesome, I think, and came from ebay. I think they were both like $15, shipped!
I couldn't find a brass colored speaker output jack so I just cut a square out of some leftover brass I had sitting around and put the speaker jack into it! piece o cake.
The metal grille material on the back came from a local metal shop. Its some thin aluminum and again because I couldn't find anything in brass color, I bought some hammered spray paint, and painted it.
I think the final product looks bitchin. I'd like to hear what all you ampaholics have to say!

It looks super good dude. I like your head cabinet for sure, I've tried to do dove tailing, and I'm apparently just bad at it. Also, I cannot get your audio clip to work, it says that the file does not exist.
