Title: Greetings!
Post by: jokn on May 08, 2017, 03:05:32 pm
Hello everybody! I'm a 40-something ordinary civil servant with a family and a mortgage. I live in Finland, where winter doesn't seem to want let go this year. About two years ago my knowledge of electricity was limited to a) it's blue, and b) it hurts.

I then decided to grab the bull by the horns and learn something about this near-magical phenomenon and it's practical (well, at least fun) applications. Being an avid guitar owner and player since my teens, I figured I'd do my learning through tube amps. It's been fun, frustrating, and rewarding so far! For my first project I built an AX84 HO.

Then, having more enthusiasm than sense, I figured I'd try my hand at designing at least the preamp for my next project, which is now built and being experimented with. I've lurked here for a while and I've gotten a lot of good information from this forum, so I'm looking forward to participating a bit more actively from now on. Whew, that got a little more verbose than I intended. Oh well :icon_biggrin:

Get your self of J Darr's Electric Guitar Amplifier Handbook, (pdf) and a copy of RDH-4 (downloadable from this fourm).  The first provides help in maintaining an amp, and the other all the data and methods to design the amp.

By the way welcome to the forum.  The help here is some of the best around.

Thanks! I've got RDH4 and Mr. Blencowe's very informative book on preamps. Will definitely check out Darr.
