There's something about this tone that I can't put my finger on.
Tele, maybe, but is it light strings? Lipstick PUP's? Just something a little different that I can't recall hearing before.
It's the lead that starts at 1:55. Anyone have any ideas? :dontknow:

Doesn't sound like an old vintage Tele bridge PUP. He also is not playing over the bridge as I hear a lot of palm muting. I might try a late 60's single coil thinline and it sounds like he is choking the pick almost to the point of pinching.
I would use a thinline on the bridge and heavy jazz pick with the tone rolled back just a touch. Sort of like Vince Gill did here:

Finally got a chance to listen to it, I Love it! Vince Gill is 1 of my all time fav's!
