Is there a reason why I cannot use an 18 watt OT instead of the 25 watt rated in this schematc?
The rating is for a 17 watt amp.

I would not use a 18W OT with 6L6GCs. They are rated for 30W plate dissipation. But you could use an 18W OT with 6V6s. Different plate impedance though.

OK
Thanks.
I just found that schematic and wanted to try something different. All I have is a 18w and 20w ([actually rated at 22w] already in something else).

Did you notice the "features" listed at the top of the page? Especially the "Line level input sensitivity"? This schematic is for a power amp only. A guitar would need at least one more gain stage to drive this amp above normal talking level.
What tubes are your 18w and 20w connected to? If 6BQ5s, or EL84s, or 6V6s, then you could use those transformers in this circuit ***IF*** you use 6V6s instead of 6L6s. Still gonna need a preamp though, unless you just want a bedroom quiet amp that sounds very dull.

Sluckey,
Thanks for taking time to help.
Yes I know it's just the power amp. I was planning on adding a high gain preamp to it. I have started making a modded ENGL Fireball. I don't want/need 60/100 watts but thaught a 10-20 watt 6L6 version would be cool keeping somewhat in line with the original 6L6 amp. Although I am still considering a single ended amp as well. We'll see. That's the fun of DIY.
The 18 is connected to 6V6's and 20 is using EL84's.
