I've been trying to fine tune the bass pot on Sluckey's Deluxe Lite. I changed the cathode caps in the first stage (2.2 and 4.7 uf) to take some some bass out and tight'n up the amp. Experimented on lowering some other coupling caps and got the amp where I like but I have the bass pot at 1 or off. The amps sounds great, I know just play it that way but I was wondering if changing the value of the bass pot would effect the amount of bass?
I use a strat, (12" alnico) and have it set to play the neck and bridge together. If I turn the amp up to get a fair amount of distortion (vol 6 or 7), single notes are great but full power chords can get a little too bassy for me. Any suggestions on cap changes to lower the bass response on the pot?

Problem solved, turn down the mids, 5751, then bass pot has a much better adjustment. Sounds fantastic, of course after two beers. Crazy question :BangHead:

Just wanted to say thanks to all the people here that put up with some of my "ridiculous" questions, especially Sluckey who took the time to answer them. This post is one of most ridiculous ones I posted. This amp is Sluckey's Deluxe Lite with a few caps changes, very similar to most 5E3 caps changes. A friend of mine, a great player, came over played the amp and was blown away by the tone. He suggested trying a 12" alnico instead of the 10" in that Crate VC 20 cab, the amp really came alive, told me "don't touch it". I've learned that if you "fiddle" long enough looking for that ultimate tone, you're likely to never find it, mostly do to the fact that your ears are tone fatigued from fiddling with it, ha :laugh: .
