Title: Building One For Me!
Post by: rake on July 15, 2017, 04:42:51 pm
Starting a new build. Built some guitars for friends and customers
but never seemed to have the time to make one just for me.

Here's the plan. A loose copy of the 59 Les Paul Special with an extended top
horn to eliminate the original's neck dive! (let go of the neck and down it goes)
Got 2 P-90's for the original sound. 22nd fret at the body. Set neck design.
The wood; Neck and body to be old growth aged American Cherry. (it's been resting in
my hayloft for 20 years) The top will be figured maple and the fret board will be Rosewood.
I'm not a fan of ebony. Binding around the top and along the fret board. No funky paint for me.
Seal coat of clear shellac block sanded smooth and then just clear gloss nitrocellulose lacquer.

I'll try and post pics of the progress once I figure out how to post them.  :dontknow:
