Title: PayPal Donation button
Post by: EL34 on July 18, 2017, 11:28:09 am
I get request all the time to donate to the forum here

It cost me about $1200 a year for a private cloud server where this forum is hosted
I am sure many people here remember the old days when we were on a public server and the problems that go along with that

Plus, I think I am going to have to up the server memory amount and maybe the disk drive space which will cost more
The forum attachments take up a huge amount of disk space

If people like the forum here and wanted to contribute some $$ towards it, that would be appreciated

If you can set up something so we can donate using PayPal's friends and family then you won't incur any transaction fees. All we really need is a valid email address.

Thanks,
Yeah, they make me use a business account for those PayPal buttons and PayPal links
And they take a %

If you want to do it the manual way, you can use the PayPal account email shown in post #1

They don't take anything if you send it as a gift the manual way  :icon_biggrin:

Let us know when you reach you goal, I would hate to see you get rich from all the guys here who have tons of money. :l2:

It is best to send it as a friend to the email in post #1

This way PayPal doesn't snag any, but shouldn't they get something for providing a service?  No, that is what the friends selection is for.  Doug, how many friends do you recon you have?

I changed the PayPal button image at the top of the forum into a link
When you click on the button image, it takes you here to this post

You can decide if you want to donate the manual way or use the PayPal ink in post #1

Anybody who really loves tube amplifiers has the opportunity here to dialogue with people who may love them even more than you do. And they know how they work and can explain their operation in enough detail to put you in the driver's seat when you go to build your own dream amp.

Even if you're one of those people who were always skipping math class to go out smokin' behind the gym when you shoulda been learning about square roots and imaginary numbers and algebra and that hokum.

Making a small cash donation here might be a better investment of your money than buying some book out there that purports to initiate you into the Holy Arcana of the Temple of Thermionic Emission or whatever... Why not start here instead? Just sayin'.

Thanks for the donation
I had an old paypal address in the post up above
I just changed it to the correct address

I had to go claim the donation

That may be why they asked you name questions?
