Title: Electrolytic Caps for Ab763 question
Post by: KimboDb on August 20, 2017, 01:36:09 am
So i just was wondering if anyone could give me a little insight. I plan on using method #2 for cap placement in my one channel 763, so I'm going to use the 2 100uf/350v caps in series for the 50uf/700v option since it came with my kit. also after doing a little research the Super reverb uses these anyway. So my question is, what difference does it make sound wise between the 22uf/500v cap vs the 100uf/3550 caps if any?
superficially the difference is 6uf/200v but i would like to understand the purpose and reason if any for the difference also effect on sound.

I think what you are are asking about is the difference between
22uF/500v in parallel with 22uF/500v to give 44uF/500v, and
100uF/350v in series with 100uF/350v to give 50uF/700v.

I suspect there is little difference in the sound due to the difference in capacitance and the advantage is the simply the voltage handling capability of the series arrangement.
