Title: help me try and identify a build
Post by: Emresound on August 23, 2017, 08:12:55 am
Bit of a random one. Bought a cab and I inherited a chassis.

I'm trying to work out what it is and if I can restore or bring it back to life.

I've managed to take a few photos and upload them. It might help with the transformers. Looks like it has a choke. Uses 2 x 6l6s and a 5y3 rectifier.

Note: I tried with photobucket and failed. Tried now with google photos...

Bit of a random shot in the dark but I sure could help to find a direction with this build.

Thanks!

What does the front panel look like? The amp looks home-made to me. Could be anything. You'll probably need to draw a schematic.

Not enough info.  Cant see the tone stack.  If the tone stack is a TMB and you check the caps, usually this will narrow it a lot.  Fender or Marshall, but having 6L6 I bet Fender type.  The OT is a Heybour 4k multi-tap 4-8-16, basically a Bassman Trans.  So anything fender in the 40 to 50 watt range.

Since the AB763 is the most popular build, that is my guess unless it has no reverb, then a Bassman.

Does it work?
Any sound?
Voltages?

If you can get it to play but don't like the sound then it won't matter what it is....except you won't know what not to build.

First thing, make sure it is SAFE.
Second, see how it sounds.
Third, season to taste.

Power transformer is probably Weber W025130 (https://www.tedweber.com/w025130).

You may find most of it is Weber-stuff.
