What's that grey cloth for ?
-
Spaghetti tubing to insulate bare wire/component runs.
-
He's asking about the grey cloth.
-
Maybe the cloth is there because the components are laying on near the chassis and this would reduce any vibrations
Issue with parts?
Or maybe someone did it so we would say "what's up with That"? :icon_biggrin:

I noticed that gray matt or felt like material in a TopHat amp I was poking around in and found no reason for it and it most likely will absorb moisture.
-
Doesn't look like any contact points would be affected even if it sucked some moisture. I would've picked some other material though that couldn't hold moisture in it, maybe some soft rubber or something.

An official response on the felt from the creator.
vibration damper for the wires and to deaden the chassis some from hi freq feedback back into the wires
