Title: Peavey Valve King 8 tone mod questtion
Post by: Electron Tornado on September 05, 2017, 08:27:48 pm
I have a Peavey Valve King 8 chassis and am considering modifying it by removing the stock tone control and R17, and adding the tone control from a Traynor DH15H.

Peavey schematic:  http://www.tremolo.pl/Firmowe/PEAVEY/ValveKing%20Royal%208.pdf (http://www.tremolo.pl/Firmowe/PEAVEY/ValveKing%20Royal%208.pdf)

Traynor schematic: http://traynoramps.com/downloads/servman/sm_dh15h.pdf (http://traynoramps.com/downloads/servman/sm_dh15h.pdf)

Will the EL84 in the Peavey have enough gain to keep the signal level up with the new tone control?

Are there any other considerations I need to make for this kind of mod?

all the switches hurt my brain!, otherwise, a TS has basically 1line in and 1 line out.
The '84 is a pretty easy tube to drive, shouldn't have much effect
