Hey guys !
Got some new tubes and they come with adhesives on the glasses of the tubes, it is toasting in the glasses :blob8: , does it can cause damage to the tubes?
Cheers

I dont think other than a smell it will hurt anything.
Maybe in a case were it was alot of glue and it was melting when hot?
But a stickers adhesive i think is ok.
Last week i was working on my amp and the tubes were hot so was i,i sweat on the 6v6 it scratched and screeched loud as hell!!! Blue light like fire in there!
I turned it off ,the tubes were set at like 200% disipatation from a major error That I made so they was weak weak anyway but that sweat killed them.
Yup
So your tubes probly have already burned off most od the glue. Try to peel off with finger nail.
Its fine i bet

If they were mine - I think I'd let the paper cook for while. And maybe down the road, take a razor blade and very gently see if the labels and residual adhesive would scrape off. For what is left I might try goo gone being very careful not to get any liquid in the base of the tube. Maybe you were supposed to take the labels off when you received the tubes?
If anyone feels what I might try is a bad move - please let me know.

I bet the adhesive is already cooked off.
But your right, good sound advice hauss

I have some old Fender-branded tubes with stickers on them. 12AX7s so they don't get that hot, but I believe they'd' been used regularly for decades before I got them.
The stickers are peeling off now and the leftover adhesive is a bit disgusting, but they haven't failed because of it. I'm not sure what I would expect to go wrong, except bad smells and sticky residue.

Well the store put it there to know when the tubes were sold, as you can see in the 1st image, 09/17 - september 2017. I don't think I'm supposed to removed those, but they did pick the wrong place to put the stickers...
In the begin it did smell like burning the glue, I think it might fall out in time, glue will totally loose strength.
I did play several more hours since the previous pictures, check it out, it is darker now and the pen marks are vanishing.

Apple cider vinegar works well for breaking down adhesives. Wait till they're cool though.

So does eucalyptus oil. Completely dissolves the adhesive gum.

I'd use Acetone or 90% IPA. Put it on with a swab, and gently scrape it with a razor. There are also some pretty sharp plastic razor blades you can buy from an industrial paint/plastic supply store. They work great for this type of stuff where you don't want to physically scratch the surface you're working on.

That's good to know.. I know citrus oil does too..

I once used a conservative amount of lemon oil on a '54 RI LP fret board and 3 of my fret markers fell out. So yeah, citrus oil definitely dissolves glue.

Those fret markers weren't glued in properly.
Lemon oil is highly recommended/used by guitar companies, repair luthier's.

I thought so too. Gibson was so concerned that they forgot to reply to the emails I sent them.
