Title: Clean Acoustic amp with SS output
Post by: guitardude57 on October 06, 2017, 03:29:48 pm
Howdy all!

I am thinking about building...

1.  A super clean grade acoustic amp, tube front end with a SS class D amp module.
This will utilize a DSP for reverb, and an effects loop.  Also a DI - transformer based DI.

2. A very clean bass amp with the same type of Class D amp, but much larger, with a DI.

I really like the Alembic F-2 preamp....

I'm thinking this will be great for the Bass amp front end...

For the acoustic amp, possibly with some changes to the tone stack values...
Will add a tube buffered FX loop as well.

Any thoughts?

I used this store-bought pre mated to a 50W SS for a guy with a lute, loot(sp), some clamshell looking $2,000 guitar, he liked it but was to heavy :think1:
anyway, fwiw

Interesting preamp...did you connect tone controls and volume pots?

1st version I just put a MV, I also just used 1 channel.  when it got rejected I put a 2 knob ganged tone for both channels, tweaked it for electric guitar and added a mix knob.  added PSE el84's

probably bring it back out this winter back to a Marantz preamp driving a pair of 6SN7's for a 2W stereo :dontknow:

I chose that board because the client wanted no changes to the tone, super clean, no distortion, just amplification.  the THD an IM specs were better than I thought I could do as a scratch build.
