I'm going to guess this is some kind of inside joke I'm missing :/
Nope, I was adopted, ~3 days old.
I'm on the right, the young man's pic on left ~might~ be my biological father. :dontknow:
He's was going to take a parental DNA test with me and then changed his mind.
-
I'm on the right
that was my "guess", although I thought the left was you in a past world

Yes, I see it now! The smile is a dead giveaway. Ear cartilage too. :l2:

Oh gotcha, that stinks, sorry! I can't imagine the kind of tough situation that is... hopefully he'll change his mind.

Just goofing around on my part
Hope you get results
My dad was adopted, not sure where my family lineage goes?

That's tough that he changed his mind. He may have legitimate reasons for declining, like past legal problems. Let him know that his sample can be anonymous at a place like this;
https://www.wikihow.com/Collect-DNA (https://www.wikihow.com/Collect-DNA)
and that he can collect the sample anywhere with a simple cheek swap.

My sister had dna testing for cancer, we are white, Indian, black, Hebrew :think1: and our family always thought we were German

Brad,
There is ALOT of similarity in facial features between your picture and the other individuals! Honestly, there is more similarity between yourself and that individual then my biological father and myself. I am serious in saying that. I would be very surprised if you are not related.
(As I age, I look far more like my dad then I did with my earlier photos compared to his comparable age photos. The photos of my dad's dad and mine look far more alike. And the photos of my son with my dad look far more alike. Meaning grandson/grandfather similarities in features more then dad/son features.)
I know this is a deep and serious longing of your heart to connect with your bio-parents and seek some measure of reconciliation with them. I hope that this man will consent to the DNA test. I can NOT imagine not wanting to know if I was your father being in his position? What a privilege it would be to have the opportunity to seek some measure of reconciliation with an estranged son. That would be a remarkable and truly beautiful experience! I could only see you bringing good to this man's heart, so I don't know what he would be afraid of?
I am wondering if it would be possible to offer both forgiveness and some documentation to release him from any legal obligation as an incentive to get him to take the DNA test? Maybe convey that you currently expect little of him other then some needed bio-information and wanting the privilege of having some small measure of reconciling and having snapshots (information) of one another's life?
My respect and best regards, Jeff

Thanks Jeff, I sent you a PM. :icon_biggrin:
It's the musician part that is big to me, their are several pro musicians in their (my?) family.
Possible father is jazz sax man and his brother is jazz trombone.

Congrats!

Thanks guys. :icon_biggrin:
He had 6 brothers and sisters, only 1 brother still living, Tom, Jazz trombonist.
Lots of cousins, several are pro musicians.
Lot to find out yet about my family. :icon_biggrin:
Now if my mother would get on board and talk to me, then I'll get to find out and maybe even know that side of my family. :dontknow:
I believe it's in His hands and I'm watching it unfold, just don't know how much it will unfold. :dontknow:

Brad,
Just saw this. Man, I'm really very happy for you to have a chance to somewhat reconcile with your biological father. Great news for sure.
This certainly has to be a blessing to both of you. You did wonderful being patient with him and persevering in pursuing this. Bravo!
Hope this brings a measure of peace and good will to both of you and you are able to appreciate the bond that is there. Kinda cool to know you come from such a musical family.
Best regards and my respect, Jeff

Sorry been busy with Thanksgiving.
Thanks Jeff. :icon_biggrin:
I had a 2 hour conversation with my father today. Went well, I think. :dontknow:
He seemed to be alert and knew who I was, this is very good.
I asked him if I could come and meet him he said "oh sure, that would be fine." :icon_biggrin:
-
Good luck with your new dad.
I can't imagine this. I've known my dad most of his life and all of mine (couple early months when he was in the Army).
