Title: Custom headstock decals
Post by: EL34 on November 04, 2017, 10:01:59 am
I want to get a nice head stock decal for my Jazz-O-Caster
Something that looks like a Fender decal

Anyone know a place that makes them?

Cool, I found the custom section on Rothko & Frost where you can pick the details

This font one looks pretty good except it would say Jazz-O-Caster

I've looked at that web store before, they have some very cool looking pick guard and binding patterns/colors.

Thanks for pointing out that they make decals, I missed that.  :icon_biggrin:

They are in England, but I was able to pick a cheap postal service shipping option

Here's the custom decal I ordered from Rothko & Frost

I installed it on my Jazz-O-Caster head stock, but I have not sealed it yet

Unbelievably thin material
They give you a piece of material to practice with before using the real decal

I like it!

Is that just a waterslide decal?  If so, I've used them for yrs, they're great.  Pretty easy to use most of the time.

That looks good. I can't even see the outline of the decal.

It says in the instruction sheet that came with the decals that theirs are much thinner than many other water slide decals

Here's their youtube video

Other than having to work with the thinner material, I would think that's better? Harder to see the edge of the decal?

The only way you can see it is if you look at it in a certain way and see that it is shinier than my flat finsh
On a glossy surface, it would blend in even more

First time I used a home made water slide decal was photographing a Dan Electro Centurian insignia prior to removing the oxidized finish of the exterior chassis.  Then I put the photo on my computer and printed it off on a sheet of water slide decal and applied it to the amp and restored the general appearance of the original look.   Pretty easy to do.
