I’m retro-modding an old radio from the 40’s into a tabletop amp and have gutted it for the most part. I’ll reuse the original chassis and some of the old parts so that to the eye it looks just like it did but will be replacing all the other components for New or NOS including the tubes, iron and speaker. Everything looked pretty dried out and over heated inside.
I am not sure if I should bother trying to salvage the old 6x9 speaker. It’s got the O/T attached to the frame and it seems as though the coil rating won’t work with anything made in the last 50 years. It also needs a new cone.
Thought I’d double check before I pitched it in the trash.
