Title: Fender Reverb - Not much control
Post by: Blind Lemon on February 10, 2018, 11:35:21 am
This is a single channel Fender build, no Trem just reverb. Stock reverb circuit, goes from zero reverb to Dick Dale with very little sweep of the pot. If you look at sluckey's TDR schematic, I have swapped out the pot 100KL for 50KA, seems to have helped a little. Swapped R16, 21 for lower values hoping to dump some signal (??But wouldn't help with the sweep control of the pot) and increased R20.

End goal is to move "My" sweet spot from 8 o'clock to 12 o'clock with out losing lower or higher control. I don't care if I lose some "max" mix, it's a lot of reverb.

So no just turning the pot assembly so the sweet spot is at 12 o'clock won't work for me.   :l2:

I'll post a pic of the build.

Increase R20 to 1M. Messing with R21 also affects the "dry" signal level. If you have room replace R14 with a 1M Dwell pot. Top of pot to C9, bottom to ground and wiper to the tube grids.

From the man himself. Thank you Sir. I'll give it a try.

BTW, this build has 5881's in it and Vibrolux transformers. Sounds awesome.

Little more room than a tweed chassis.

Slaved in the 1M pot for the dwell and replaced R20 with the 1M as suggested. After I found the dwell I liked I pulled the pot and measured the legs to wiper. Input to wiper 820K and 50K wiper to ground, wasn't a true 1M pot. I put fixed resisters in the circuit, 820K between C9 and tube grid and 56K from tube grid to ground. Didn't really get me the sweep I was looking for but it tamed the over bearing reverb and will give the user better control.

That looks great just as it is. Your pen is not as jumpy as mine. Guess that FAA penmanship course really paid off!   :icon_biggrin:
