Title: Custom Cab
Post by: daveneary on February 14, 2018, 04:03:19 pm
Hi,  have just purchased a custom blackface style Amp Cab. It looks to be really well made with surf green and white tolex, finger jointed pine. The speaker is 12". The chassis opening is 400mm (15.75") x 7"  with the standard Princeton Reverb height.

Just looking for ideas of what to put in it.   I currently have a Fender Deluxe Single channel and a 6G2 Brownface Princeton both in Princeton Chasssis. These are 18.25 " wide.

I am wondering about cutting a chassis down and putting the 6G2 ..or squeezing a BF Princeton Reverb in...or a Fender Champ with added reverb and 6L6...any ideas welcome.

Alternatively is to get some sheet steel and just bend the from an back with wooden sides adding metal sides to the wood if shielding becomes an issue.

Dave.

Here's a blank chassis that'll fit:

I like the idea of the Champ with reverb and 6L6. I did one that is basically a single channel, no vib.,Deluxe Reverb preamp into a single 6L6. Sounds good to me.

Here's a good OT for that application:
