Title: Jack(Ric)
Post by: davidwpack on February 27, 2018, 08:59:37 am
Ello! Anyone familiar with Ric-O-Sound jacks? I'm having shorting issues with the standard input jack that I'm not able to resolve. I've retentioned, cleaned, and resoldered with no benefit. I'm wondering if they are just standard stereo jacks or some proprietary type of Rickenbacker jack. I can't find one that looks quite like it. Only thing I can find is a Ric jack assembly. I'll try to post a pic.

A picture. It's the jack on the left. Note the plastic thingy.

Looks like that jack switch will be closed when you insert a phone plug and it's open when no plug is inserted. That's opposite from a standard Switchcraft 12A jack.

What are you trying to do with it?

Hey. I'm just trying to get it to work. When I plug in, horrible shorting static comes through the amp. It is positional though if I hold the cable in a certain position it comes through fine. I've tried everything I can think of but I think it's something inside the jack itself that I can't repair.

Use some 400 grit sandpaper folded so there is abrasion on both sides. Insert between the switch contacts, insert a plug and shine the contacts. Use the sandpaper on the contact point for the tip also. A fingernail file or jeweler's file work good too. Use some electronic spray cleaner after shining the contacts.

Somebody lost out on selling me a $30 jack assembly. I guess I owe you about $1000000 on the amps, reverb circuit, and now a geetar that you helped me with. Thank you Sluckey! Works great now!...dave

For direct deposit, the number to call is BR-549.

Here's a typical wiring diagram for the Ric-O-Sound...

You may be a redneck if... you know whose phone number that is!

You definitely are a redneck if you've ever called it!   :l2:

I remember episodes of Andy Griffith where they were like: "Sarah, get me MP102" or something like that.

Ohh. I looked it up. If it's what I think it is, my Grandmaw used to make me sit down and be quiet when that came on. I think I was about 4 or 5. I still remember that.
