Just finished some work on my house and I have left over parts so I thought I'd make a voltage limiter. Don't know if the led will work or just get cooked, there's only one way to find out.

That LED will definitely not burn up with a 47K resistor in series with it. Try a 10K/3W resistor and put the rectifier diode in series with the LED. No need to run both phases of the AC through the 10K resistor heating it up more. Better yet, just put a neon lamp in there with no resistor.

Thanks, I will try that too. The LED indicator isn't crucial, I just have a bunch of them collecting dust. I was also going to try it with a 0.33uf 400v cap and maybe a 470 ohm resistor and see which one works better.

I was poking around on some old hard drive folders today and found the saved website where I found the instructions for building my Belkin multioutlet power strip/ current limiter. So, I thought I would share it.

We're getting old Steve. But I'm good with that.

Were you hanging out on AGA back in the early 2000s? If so, what handle? I was 57chevy.
