Why is it that the controls and labels on the panels of amps like the 5e3 upside down? You walk up to adjust the knobs from the front. Does anyone do it the “right” way? I’m making one so you can read it from the front.

Long ago, guitarists set the amp out front for less feedback and more projection over the horn section.
Also, who wants the audience to look at their knobs? Bad enough to have an ugly box on stage.
The shift to front controls comes with the higher power amps and horn player lay-offs.

Did not know that. Thanks. I’m still going to make my top loading amp readable from the front.
