Hey all, several months ago I bought some pulled, Deluxe Reverb Reissue transformers, and built Sluckey's AB763 Lite build with them. Everything worked fine and it's been in storage until now.
When I plug my strat in, I notice that when I play notes or chords, through the amp, I can hear the strings "clanging" on my guitar's frets. No, I'm not talking about the guitar note haha I'm talking about the guitar note + strings clanging on frets. You can imagine how "chimey" or "sparkly" it can sound. Not in a good way either. It makes my playing sound so messy.
Anyway, off the top of my head I suspected maybe the tone stack. That, something I did might be adding some extra presence or top end EQ that's picking up the string/fret noise?
I should mention, I used the same guitar on two of my other amps (Hoffman Blues Junior & Bluezmeister) and I don't get that string/fret clang from them. I know my strings are fairly low to the frets, but they don't buzz at all on the two other amps like how they do on the ab763.
Now, those two amps are Solid State Rectified, so I'm wondering if it's a "sag"/rectification "issue"?
In that case, I've heard people using 6L6 tubes and a solid state "cap" in their AB763's with success. All my filter caps are rated for 500v, so I might be able to get away with the increased voltage.
Anyway... I would be interested & appreciate hearing your guys' thoughts or if you know exactly what the "issue" is. It's the first time I've experienced this in the all the different amps I've played over the years.

No offense taken. Gotta say though, it doesn't quite sound like an amp issue. That's why I'm curious to hear your thoughts on another guitar. Also, let someone else play through the amp and get their opinion too. Curious about this.

I'll have some of our electric players at my church play it this weekend without telling them anything and post their opinions here!

That circuit is Fender clean, I built one. Your guitars action might be a little low, try raising it a hair, especially the G string with a strat.

Play some music through it. Should sound fine, only limited top end. I mean like from an iPod. Should let you know. Even better if you can send someone playing on YouTube to it.

I had a similar problem as you, but didn't know string slapping from a E-minor, so I spent time proving my amp was fine, did find the foot thing that adjusts the string busted

It turns out, it was the guitar!
The amp itself is a bit bright (even with the bright toggle off), but nothing too piercing with a quick treble knob dialing. This might be due to my tone caps' tolerances, maybe? My guitar with a lot of fret buzz didn't help though!
I leave the window open a lot in my workshop where the guitar stays and I guess over time the neck warped and made it buzz a lot more. I remember there was a manageable buzz before, so I didn't think that there was excessive buzz after the neck changed it's shape.
Long story short, I re-setup the neck/bridge saddle height and it's a LOT better! Plays like a dream and sounds great through Sluckey's AB763 Lite!
Sorry for the waste of forum space hahaha I appreciate the comments though and hope this will help anyone that has a similar issue!

although id did get back on some free solo easy stuff this year in NM :think1:

haha surprisingly, I only saw 1 climber with actual gear. Probably because the heat's starting to pick up?
He was climbing alone too. Can climbers climb alone? That sounds scary hahaha

That area was the mecca for "bouldering", working a series of VERY hard moves, usually you only had a chalk bag and a crash pad. It got so bad we added a new term "Highballing" Bouldering >40ft, 80ft was about the limit.
And ya, the 2nd half my career I did a lot of "roped solo" climbing, quite safe, you just climbed 2X the height, since you are always going back down to clean gear for the next pitch, so a 500' climb was 1000'. I never advocated "free solo", you fall you die, although I have done some since "retiring", just did a 120ft'r in Pictures canyon CO, amazing sandstone polished near marble shiny with 1,000's of thumb sized hematite like protrusions, walk in the park :icon_biggrin: ( I named the climb "goat walk, 5.1 X"

hahaha the goat walk! In that case, we didn't even see ANY bouldering haha maybe we were in the wrong areas, but didn't see anybody climbing rocks with a pad underneath hahaha
