Title: KT66 Build
Post by: davidwpack on June 01, 2018, 06:25:39 pm
Ey! Here's my latest build. I posted this in the repairs area of the forum.Comparable to Ampeg levels of clean and headroom and just overall, general Ampegyness. I generally keep the volume at 4 and the master around 8 and it is too loud to stand directly in front of the speaker cab. It will break up nicely turning the volume up but probably necessary to bring the master down. Handles distortion/OD pedals very well. Anyways, I'll try to post a hand-drawn layout too. This was originally a "Stout" style preamp that I wasn't crazy about so I redid V1 and V2 and kept tweaking, and tweaking, and tweaking values until it was transformed into it's current form. Anyways...Dave

It is nice. It appears to be a cross between a jtm45 and has coupling caps trimmed like a later 1987.

I did a very similar build and ended up raising the cap values after the PI to .33if, the kt66 seemed to really like the added amount.

Thanks! No problem. I had a lot help figuring out the program and converting file types from a few people here. Thanks again everybody! I almost found drawing it up as much fun as building it. I forgot to mention; I've been playing this through a Jensen loaded open-back 2x12.
