Title: Advise on repairing PT wires
Post by: uki on August 10, 2018, 02:40:38 pm
I got PT from an reel-to-reel Geloso 268, the wires crumbled as it was removed from the chassis.

I thought about cutting the soldering new wires, what would be the best way to repair the wires?

Gently slice and peel the paper back.  Maybe you can see where they emanate from the coil and replace them.  Or cover with heat shrink tubing.

These rubber insulated leads can probably be replaced.

Jjasilli is right. Or, you can install lug strips close to the PT when you mount it, and make very short runs to the strip, then new wire from there. I'd still cover with heat shrink or spaghetti tubing though. Bare HT wires sceer me.
