Title: IEC punch
Post by: Sonny ReVerb on September 16, 2018, 07:14:23 pm
I finally had a chance to try out my IEC punch that I got from Newark. It did a fine job. I would give it a 'thumbs up' overall.

 One problem, however, is the round body. There's no way to tell if the punch is square to the chassis. I made some pencil marks on the sides of the body that I could align with a center line on the chassis. That did the trick.

Put some lines on the inside of the chassis. Or just use a machinist square to line up the rectangle body on the inside of the chassis. Or cut a 2-1/2" wide board to about 4" long and use that as a guide inside the chassis. Lots of ways to make sure it's square to the chassis, but they all involve the inside of the chassis.

Currently $77.54. Not cheap, but I haven't seen one cheaper.

Apologies for replying to an old topic. Does anyone know if these IEC punch are still being manufactured ? Newark/RS have discontinued them.

TIA.

I use a lot of these punch many years ago, they work fine.
Brand was Greenlee.

Only round punch set, no square.

Very very expensive ;

for IEC inlet, the punch below would work - at least for the schurter brand IEC type C14 inlet. $500 to $950 american. greenlee makes the one for $500, but no one seems to stock it.
