Title: Howdy
Post by: martiro7 on October 26, 2018, 07:57:27 pm
I got here along my journey to home brew classic amps. I’m 62 and retired from a software engineering position. I’ve been soldering since age 12 and attended the USAF soldering course back in the seventies. However, I am way better at digital than analog, so I have lots of learning yet to do. My wife says I have too many guitars, but I only have one tube amp, a PRS Sweet 16. I am trying to select a kit under 20 watts but there are too many to choose from!

Welcome!  There are definitely several great options that Doug has.  You can do the old deluxe build, the 18W Marshall, the Vox AC15 that sluckey has here, etc.  Lot's of great amps under that wattage. The only think that you'll need to learn first is how to safely discharge electrolytic caps and understand the dangers of working in tube amplifiers that can get DC voltages up to 700V in some cases.  You may even consider a simple champ build to start off, it's only 5 watts, and it's single ended but a simple easy first tube amp to build.  Then move on to your preference of the ~20W you want once you've done that first build.
