Anyone have info on Heppner's, got them out of a Hammond Organ Cab. Seems to be a matched pair, one cone is ribbed, one smooth. Played them alone, the smooth cone is on the honky bright side, the ribbed is a more midrange sound. Together not too bad but have to cut the brightness to cure that honky, tubby tone.
Just wondering what others think of these alnico speakers, seems to be about 25 watts each, maybe a little more? I think they came out of a Hammond 100 series that had two 6L6's but might have had a 15" woofer too. Played them through my 6V6 Plexi, I have to fool with the knobs to get a decent tone but wondered what the consensus was on these.

These hammond organ Heppner's don't sound that good to me, tubby sounding and kind of muffled..? Could it be the cab they're in? I took the Heffners out and put in two Celeston's G12H30's, 70 anniversary that I played through two other cabs with the 6V6 plexi head, sounded great. But when I put the Celestons in the cab I built they too didn't sound the sames as when in other single cabs wired together...? Not too bad but not as good as the in two other single amp cabs.
Could I have a bad sounding cab I built..? Or maybe the back of the half open cab isn't over the proper part of the speaker. Anyone info on open back cab construction appreciated.
EDIT: Others have played this Celeston cab, say I'm out to lunch, they say cab sounds great. They do sound good but slightly different probably cause they are in a different cab  , guess my ears are too sensitive, ha. Funny, every time I have a few beers and a shot or two, my stuff always sounds good but not buzzed I think something's off. Well, guess I should listen to my logo, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" :l2:
