Although my dad never gave me any formal guitar lessons - he claimed he didn't know how to play what I was listening to..! He played Hawaiian slide and slack key in his younger years. I learned how to play on his guitar, a 1938 Supro metal body resonator - my prized possession. I inherited his Hawaiian album collection, some 78's in there! I've always enjoyed "Hawaiian" music. About 15 years ago I really started to get into slack key and started studying some of the masters. Two of them were Cyril and his father Gabby. I guess not for everyone, but I really love the flowing melodies. Sadly we lost Cyril yesterday.
