Title: What purpose does this serve?
Post by: 3rdof3 on November 25, 2018, 11:54:07 am
I recently got a look at a Friedman SS-100 and noticed the first stage has two resistors in series feeding the anode with the output cap at the junction between the resistors:  B+ > 220k > 100k > Anode.  What is the purpose of this and how does it affect the tone/gain?

Thanks!

the output cap at the junction
It's used as a voltage divider, changes the "swing" of the AC signal.  I've used it a couple times, mainly to change how much drive signal gets to the next stage.
tone is too subjective, so it's a try it, see if you like it kinda thing
