Title: champ transformer for 5e3
Post by: Masterwaiter on February 09, 2019, 12:08:11 pm
Hey guys, out of curiosity, is there any major reason, that I am missing, why this transformer wouldn't work just fine in a 5e3 style build?  To me, the voltages and current capacity all seem right in line but i am not as well versed as most of you.  https://www.tedweber.com/w022772 (https://www.tedweber.com/w022772)   Thanks for your time

It will work but may run pretty hot. I'd be more comfy with a 150mA rating. Also, this PT has a smaller footprint than a typical 5E3 amp, in case that matters.

That was basically my main concern, but when I was researching actual “5e3” transformers from multiple companies, I saw mA ratings as low as 75 and many right at the same level, so in my head I figured it wouldn’t be too bad.  When you say it’d run pretty hot, we’re talking like, risk of shorter power transformer lifespan or higher burnout risk right?  Not like burst into flames hot
