Introduction
My name is Skip Johnson. Here is a brief overview of how I got here:
• Started playing guitar when I was 12 and have played off and on ever since
• Worked in the software industry for 35 years
• Started collecting guitars (and related gear) in 1995
• Retired in 2014
• Started learning electronics in January 2017
• Learning electronics morphed into building guitar effects pedals March 2017
• Building guitar effects pedals morphed into retrofitting/restoring electric guitar amplifier cabinets June 2017
• Retrofitting/restoring electric guitar amplifier cabinets morphed into building guitar tube amps November 2017 and decided to call/tag/logo my amps ZTUBEZ.
• As of January 2019, I have built 10 vintage style tube amps including 2 Champs, 4 Princetons, 1 Bassman, 1 Deluxe, 1 Stereo Champ and a Fender Reverb Unit.
• Decided my next build needed to be something different. As I have built vintage Fender style amps, I decided on a British design this go.
• I came across Sluckey's 1960 Vox AC15 site (sluckeyamps.com) and decided this was the right build for me to take on.
• Further research on this build lead me here.
I plan to share my build experience here and hope to get any needed support along the way.
