I have been looking at the Volume and Tone control circuit for the 5F2A. The Tone control looks like a Treble cut in one direction and a "bright cap" in the other direction.
I noticed that Fender used 1M Linear pots for volume and tone, but Hoffman's layout uses 1M audio pots.
Can anyone tell me why Hoffman uses audio pots instead of Linear for this circuit?

Audio taper makes more sense for a volume control. Can't say about the tone. I think the question should be why did Fender use a linear volume pot? Maybe it was marketing. Hey look. This little amp is louder on 2 than that big ole B25!

My question along the same lines, is the champ is the same amp without the tone knob......is it worthwhile to add the tone control or not.

champ with tone knob is indeed 5f2a princeton (or viceversa)…. theres almost endless debate about which one is better, or sound better.. I, for one don't care bout 5f1, so in my mind… go for it
