Hi all.
I'm gearing up to replace the 40+ year old electro caps in my dead-stock Traynor Bassmaster MKII YBA1 (ok, dead-stock except the grounded mains conversion I put in).
I have a question about use of parallel caps in the power supply.

See how C17 is a two cap, multisection can (2 x 40uf 450v)? They are wired in parallel, and are in series with C15, another 80uf 450v cap (then this string of caps connects to the subsequent resistors in the PS section).
C19 (2 x 40uf 450v, in parallel) and C18 (80uf 450v) are also in series, in a similar manner.
My question: is it OK to replace the can cap 2 x 40uf's in parallel, with a single 80uf 450v?
I'm guessing there is no meaningful advantage to one versus the other, that they were probably using up a stock of the 2 X 40 uf can caps and plugging can-cap holes in a stock of already-made chasses, from the previous version of the amp (which only used 40uf caps in the PS - see page 2 of the schematic PDF above).
Any thoughts? OK just to switch to single 80uf caps to replace those 2 X 40ufs in parallel? Or am I missing something?

don't see a problem making it 80/450

I would get four 100uFd 350V snap-caps.
The extra uFd will do no harm.
350V twice is more than enough for nominal 540V (even if it runs high on modern wall outlets).
Snap-caps are a better buy than chassis-cans or most caps with legs.
