Title: What are these parts?
Post by: daveyajd on May 29, 2019, 11:02:14 pm
Looking at this Ceriatone layout for their Lightning I see these diodes on the rectifier socket. What should I use for these? Also I haven’t come across any other layouts or schematics that have that 3kv cap, why is it there on this one?

I know there are past discussions of this on the Forum. If you search, I think you will find them. The diodes are added protection against a failed rectifier tube as far as my understanding. I do not install them on my builds, but that does not mean you should not.

Thank you. I went hunting and turned up this thread:

As you said, the diodes are protection and it seems the cap is to eliminate any noise caused by them.
